Clinics give players a lot of focused reps in one session, with other athletes working on the same skill. Baseball Clinics in Western Springs, IL with Coach Cinz come in three flavours: hitting, pitching and fielding. Each runs 1.5 hours at The Play & Thrive Club Naperville.
Coach Cinz was an instructor with the Chicago White Sox organization for five years before the pandemic and has spent over 25 years in baseball. For dates and details, see our baseball camps and clinics page.
Which clinic is right for my player?
- Hitting Clinic ($204, 1.5 hr): group work on swing technique, with a focus on timing.
- Pitching Clinic ($204, 1.5 hr): balance, break and dangle, stride, arm action and follow-through. Players make partner throws, then work off the mound, and get a video breakdown of their mechanics.
- Fielding Clinic ($204, 1.5 hr): the 6 F’s of a great infielder (Feet, Field, Funnel, Footwork, Fire, Follow), with drills, live action off the bat and situational plays.
If you are unsure, start with the skill your player enjoys most, or the one that is holding them back in games. Each clinic also has a group option at three times the price. Pitchers should follow the MLB/USA Baseball Pitch Smart guidelines, and a sore arm needs rest and a check with a doctor or athletic trainer.
Baseball Clinics in Western Springs, IL: the drive
Western Springs is in Cook County, about 17.1 miles east of the Naperville facility. The drive is about 37 minutes, so a 1.5-hour clinic makes a worthwhile trip. Clinics run there in the off-season and on rainy days. Upcoming sessions are listed under Skills Clinics.
Should we pair a clinic with private lessons?
Many players use both. A clinic builds reps and habits, and a 30-minute Private Lesson ($65) lets Coach Cinz dig into one athlete’s mechanics. Private lessons can be held at the facility or at a location you choose in Chicagoland. Softball players are welcome in his programs too.
What should players bring to a clinic?
Western Springs players should bring a glove, water and clothes they can move in, plus a bat for the Hitting Clinic. Arriving a few minutes early helps them warm up properly. Pitchers who have already thrown a lot that week should mention it, so their workload stays sensible under Pitch Smart.
Players from neighbouring towns join us as well, including youth training for families in nearby La Grange and fielding training in nearby Hinsdale.
